Das Advanced Setup
Das Advanced Chipset Setup (AMI-Bios) kann beim Umbau des Rechner die Fehlerursache ergeben. Nur mit äußerster Vor- und Umsicht vorgehen und die vorhanden Einstellungen zunächst notieren.
Busgeschwindigkeit: sollte bei ISA 8,33 MHz betragen. Bei PCI Rechner 10 MHZ und mehr.
Fall das nichts hilft im Advanced CEMOS Setup Alle VIDEO- , CONTROLLER- und SHADOW RAM Bereiche (notieren !) ausschalten und später einzeln nacheinander wieder einschalten.

DRAM- und Cache Zugriff auf den langsamsten Wert Stellen, wenn das nicht hilft auf den höchsten Wert und dann von einem der beiden Werte den idealen Wert ermitteln. Das heißt immer wieder das Setup speichern, neu booten, Testen.
Hidden Refresh und Page Mode- fast Page nacheinander versuchsweise ausschalten.

Das Avard Bios hat die nützliche Eigenschaft, dass alle Einstellungen oder jede Einstellung einzeln auf Standard und Setup zurückgestellt werden können. Die Standard Einstellung ist die unkritische Grundeinstellung, Setup die Individuelle Anfangseinstellung. Nach notieren der Werte, stellt man alles in Standard um. Sind die Probleme dann verschwunden , werden die Werte einzeln in Setup und die ev. letzte Einstellung zurückgestellt. So kann man die durch Bios-Einstellungen verursachte Fehler gut finden. Die einzelnen Standard und Setup-Einstellungen werden mit F1 angezeigt.
