Die Grundeinstellung , ist "Enabled" dies schaltet einige Selbsttest (POST) Routinen ab. Zur Systemüberprüfung und Bootverlängerung kann "Disabled" eingestellt werden, was insbesondere bei schnellen Rechnern zu empfehlen ist um großen Festplatten Zeit zu geben richtig anzulaufen.

Grundeinstellung ist "Disabled". Mit "Enabled" können die folgenden Einstellungen genutzt werden.
Typematic Rate:
(Zeichen pro Sekunde), kontrolliert die Geschwindigkeit mit der Tastatureingaben wiederholt werden. Die Einstellmöglichkeiten gehen von 6 bis30. Default Einstellung ist 6
Typematic Delay (Msec)
Kontrolliert die Zeit zwischen dem Anzeigen von 2 Charakters. Die Einstellmöglichkeiten sind 250ms, 500ms, 750ms und 1000ms. Die Default Einstellung ist 250ms.

Lange Dateinamen
Je nach dem welches Sicherungsprogramm man verwendet, werden lange Dateinamen nicht gesichert, was bei älteren oder DOS-Programmen immer der Fall ist, um dieses Problem zu überbrücken gibt es Programme die lange Dateinamen sichern und wiederherstellen.
Auf der WIN95 CD-ROM befindet sich unter ADMIN\APTOOLS\LFNBACK die LFNBK.EXE, mit der dies möglich ist. Das Programm ist allerdings recht umständlich zu bedienen :Im Internet gibt es als DOSLFNBK.EXE ab Version 1.2 in DOSLFNBK.ZIP ein Freeware Programm, das wesentlich einfacher zu bedienen ist.
Ist man nicht sicher, ob das eigenen Sicherungsprogramm lange Dateinamen sichert, so sollte man vor der Sicherung die langen Dateinamen mit einem dieser Programme sichern.

Diese Programm finden Sie als TANSX95.ZIP ebenfalls im Internet.TRANSX95 enthält ebenfalls nützliche Backup Routinen, die in der englischen Anleitung genau beschrieben werden. Generell kann gesagt werden, dass Sektoren kopierende Programme gut zur Übertragung von Festplatten geeignet sind. Inzwischen gibt es gute Kaufprogramme, die das Erstellen von Images (Bildern) von kompletten Laufwerken erstellen und dabei Sektorenweise kopieren. Powerquest: Drive Copy (60.--) und Norton Ghost (99.-) seien erwähnt und empfohlen.
